Job Description

We’re partnering with a production design client seeking a highly skilled and self-sufficient 3D Artist for a new scenic set installation. You will take the project from modeling through to full-scale physical production , including large-format 3D printing and finishing.

This is a freelance opportunity ideal for a creative professional who owns (or has access to) their own 3D printing resources and is comfortable working with both 12-inch collectibles and large-scale props up to 7 feet tall .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the client to model, print, and deliver physical 3D figurines , ranging from 12” to 7’ in height
  • Interpret CAD files and 3D reference material provided by the client or generate models from scratch based on direction
  • Manage the full 3D production workflow : modeling, slicing, printing, and post-processing
  • Own or manage access to large-format 3D printing equipment , including selecting appropriate materials and managing output for durability and aesthetic quality
  • Maintain a clear project timeline , incorporating design review, revisions, and production deadlines within a ~1-month window
  • Package and ship finished figurines to the client’s U.S. location on time and in excellent condition
  • Provide estimates and project scope recommendations to the client during the budgeting phase

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in 3D modeling and physical production of large-scale printed assets
  • Proficiency in tools such as ZBrush, Blender, Rhino, Maya, or similar 3D software
  • Ability to generate print-ready files and execute clean, accurate physical prints
  • Access to or ownership of a large-format 3D printer (minimum build size capable of handling up to 7-foot-tall figurines in parts or whole)
  • Strong understanding of print materials, resolution, supports, and post-processing
  • Experience with scenic, prop, or set design projects (TV, film, theater, or commercial work a plus)
  • Excellent project management and time management skills
  • Ability to work remotely and deliver physical pieces domestically within the U.S.
