We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our dynamic Accounting and Finance team. This role will be pivotal in managing a broad range of tax and accounting responsibilities, with a focus on state and local tax, tax planning, corporate tax returns, tax preparation, audit and tax, federal & state tax, individual tax accounting, and complex international tax issues. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting principles, tax laws, and international tax regulations. The CPA will play a crucial role in financial decision-making and operations as they will be responsible for the planning, management, and compliance of all tax matters.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals, businesses, benefit funds, real estate, and exempt organizations.
- Manage all aspects of state and local tax, tax planning, and corporate tax returns.
- Handle complex tax planning and strategy for international operations.
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions.
- Identify and mitigate tax risks.
- Coordinate accounting staff and manage tax planning.
- Liaise with tax authorities and provide tax audit support for the company.
- Review current and deferred tax provision calculations.
- Research and correct process errors that caused incorrect tax filings.
- Negotiate with tax authorities over tax payment issues.
- Advise management on the impact of new laws on tax liabilities.
- Coordinate outsourced tax preparation work.
- Understand and advise on the tax implications of company business strategies.
Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in public accounting or a combination of public and corporate tax experience.
- A strong understanding of state and local tax, tax planning, corporate tax returns, and tax preparation.
- Proficient in audit and tax, federal & state tax, individual tax accounting.
- Experience in handling complex international tax issues and understanding of international tax regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with detail orientation.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance and procedures for corporations.
- Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
- Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to drive process improvements.
- Strong ability to utilize project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize tasks.
