Job Description

Granite Partners is seeking an outstanding candidate to join our team as an Events & Business Operations Intern in the fall of 2025. The role can be built around your academic schedule and may include a combination of both part-time and full-time work arrangements, depending on the time of the year, with the potential to continue into the spring and summer of 2026. The Events & Business Operations Intern will get broad exposure to a wide range of administration functions and learn what it’s like to work for a mission-driven private investment and holding company.

During the internship, you will gain experience in event planning, project management, process management, and technology support as you help us grow the Minnesota-based Granite Companies. The Events & Business Operations Intern will support all operations and events happening at Granite Innovations, a 40,000 square foot, newly renovated building in downtown St. Cloud.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As an Events & Business Operations Intern, you will receive training, professional development, and direct 1:1 mentorship from leaders in the firm. In this role, you will get the opportunity to work with a variety of stakeholders in the Granite community to advance high impact initiatives.

Training

  • Manage projects from initiation through completion – gain exposure and experience in all areas of project management. Lead a project from start to finish, leveraging systems and tools like Monday.com.
  • Solve problems like a consultant – learn to structure and break down problems, manage a project plan, and translate meaningful insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Think like an owner – learn to make decisions for the long-term, with 100-year sustainability in mind.

Coaching & Mentorship

  • Receive personalized coaching from an assigned mentor at Granite Partners who will help ensure you are acquiring skills, developing relationships, and growing as a future business leader while getting the support and tools you need to complete your projects.

Experience the Granite Community

  • Understand how Granite Partners approaches the Granite community and invests in “all stakeholders.”
  • Participate in and support annual Granite Days events and experience collaboration among leaders across the Granite Companies.
  • Gain exposure to the digital strategy and transformation projects taking place throughout the Granite Companies.
  • Spend time with other Granite Company interns at Granite Intern Day – a day of connecting, networking, building relationships, and attending the FranklinCovey “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” Forum.
  • Participate in a range of social activities to get to know the firm and have fun!

Potential Projects

The Events & Business Operations Intern’s projects will be assigned based on a balance of business needs and experience or interest. Examples of projects could include:

  • Supporting event planning and projects for annual Granite Days events
  • Providing technology support for Granite Innovations users
  • Hosting guests at Granite Innovations
  • Managing business administration processes
  • Leading event planning and coordination at Granite Innovations
  • Collaborating and supporting overall Granite Partners team efforts and team services
  • Communicating and collaborating with an ecosystem of vendor partners, including technology, food and beverage, and office support
  • Supporting the Granite Partners team through meeting scheduling, meeting preparation, PowerPoint development, and communication

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

A successful Events & Business Operations Intern at Granite Partners will:

  • Be a sophomore or junior at a four-year college or in the second year of an associate’s degree
  • Have strong academic performance and a demonstrated record of achievement
  • Have strong technology and systems skills
  • Have summer, student, or full-time work experience
  • Have community engagement and service experience
  • Be a participant in extracurricular activities with sports achievements, student club leadership, academic honors, artistic works, or the like
  • Have a passion for the five dimensions of wellbeing: purpose, social, community, physical, and financial
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders and colleagues
  • Thrive in a small, agile, and entrepreneurial team working across a range of responsibilities and assignments simultaneously
  • Be a continuous learner who is caring and supportive and who anticipates the needs of other team members; be willing to “roll up your sleeves” and help wherever needed
  • Be aligned with our mission to grow stakeholder value and our vision of enabling world-class wellbeing; live the values of the Granite community

Compensation

We offer a competitive hourly rate in the $20 to $24 range, based on experience and requirements of the role. Beyond pay, our internship program is designed to provide valuable hands-on experience and learning opportunities. Interns gain access to:

  • Mentorship and professional development sessions

  • Volunteer and community activities
  • Company facilities, including workspace, on-site resources, and tools for project completion
