Job Description

The Virginia Catering Company, operating under UVA Dine, is seeking a Lead Catering Services Worker to assist in the execution of catering events. The Lead Catering Services Worker will work closely with the Catering Manager and other team members to ensure seamless event setup, execution, and breakdown, while providing excellent customer service and leadership to other catering staff. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the Catering Manager in overseeing the setup, execution, and breakdown of catering events at various locations on the University of Virginia grounds.
  • Provide guidance and direction to Catering Services Workers, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
  • Transport catering equipment, food, and beverages to event sites using company vehicles, as needed.
  • Set up event spaces according to event diagrams, including arranging tables, chairs, linens, and decorations.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests, ensuring proper presentation and adherence to food safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized event space throughout the duration of the event.
  • Assist with the breakdown and cleanup of event spaces, including removing equipment, linens, and trash.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to guests, addressing inquiries and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Ensure all catering equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, including event checklists and delivery logs.
  • Attend pre-event meetings and communicate effectively with the Catering Manager and other team members.
  • Aid in implementation and adherence to all Aramark OpX Catering initiatives and guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in catering or food service, with some leadership experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide guidance to others.
  • Proficiency in basic math skills.
