Managing Director, HCM Implementation

At AllianceHCM, the Managing Director, HCM Implementation plays a critical leadership role in driving the successful onboarding of clients onto our HR and payroll systems. This position combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leading implementation or customer success teams, particularly within SaaS or fast-paced environments, and will be passionate about client outcomes, team leadership, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct, lead, and mentor a team of Implementation Specialists and Techs and additional supporting resources, responsible for onboarding new customers in alignment with the organizational direction.
  • Fully learn and execute the implementation process to ensure the ability to coach the team.
  • Coach team members and clients on the correct use of HCM applications, implementation of standard processes and procedures.
  • Oversee delivery of Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for HCM and Payroll, ensuring prompt, accurate, and compliant solutions.
  • Manage end-to-end implementation projects from planning and execution to testing, go-live, and post-launch support.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (development, reporting, training, support) to align systems functionality with business needs and optimize customer experience.
  • Own escalation management for HCM and Payroll, resolve complex issues, and improve process documentation and internal controls.
  • Stay informed of HCM platform features and updates, and assess their impact on existing operations.
  • Be hands-on in the HCM implementation process and demonstrate the ability to effectively execute it, serving as both a leader and a practitioner.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience leading Implementation or Customer Success teams in a SaaS, startup, or fast-paced B2B/B2C environment.
  • 5+ years of leadership in the HCM environment; payroll or benefit experience is preferred
  • Proven success in scaling teams, maintaining SLAs, and achieving performance targets.
  • Deep understanding of systems and operations with a strong technical foundation.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work across multiple projects and initiatives in a high-growth environment.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator with strong interpersonal instincts and ability to build trust across departments and client teams.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with a bias for action and follow-through.
  • Hands-on experience with systems implementation, business process configuration,s and integrations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, HR, Business Administration, or related field.
  • HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent preferred.
