Job Description

For over 85 years, Christ the King School has partnered with parents, our parish, and the community to serve God and educate students within the Catholic tradition of faith, academic excellence, love, and service. The school, located at 3105 Belmont Blvd. in Nashville, is a Pre-Kindergarten (4) through 8th Grade school with a history of academic excellence and a strong Catholic identity. Christ the King School seeks an experienced, dynamic, and student-centered Middle School English Language Arts Teacher to teach students in grades 5–8 . The ideal candidate will have a deep love for literature, strong writing instruction skills, and a proven ability to engage students in meaningful learning. The ELA teacher will inspire students to become thoughtful readers, articulate writers, and critical thinkers in alignment with our school’s mission and academic standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and deliver an engaging ELA and Literature curriculum aligned with state and diocesan standards
  • Plan, prepare, and execute daily lessons in reading, writing, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary
  • Foster a classroom environment that supports academic rigor, creativity, and respect
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Assess student progress regularly and communicate effectively with students and parents
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and school-wide initiatives
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
  • Integrate faith and values into the curriculum in a meaningful way
  • Function as one of the middle school homeroom teachers (grade to be determined)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 3 years teaching, preferably in grades 5-8
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree or advanced degree preferred)
  • Valid TN Teaching License with ELA endorsement for grades 5-8
  • Strong Classroom Management Skills
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Experience with differentiated instruction
  • Commitment to the mission of Catholic Education
  • Familiarity with best practices in literacy instruction and 21st-century learning

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Education or English-related field
  • Experience in Catholic or private school settings
  • Familiarity with digital tools for teaching and assessment
