For nearly 100 years, Scheu & Kniss has been offering engineering and machining services for high-quality machined parts. Scheu & Kniss is now a part of Operio Group, a growing company with years of experience in the ingredients and manufacturing sectors that puts their team first so we can provide excellent solutions to our customers.

The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall strategic direction and daily operational excellence of the Scheu & Kniss facility. This role involves overseeing all manufacturing, engineering, technical services, customer service, and the new Operio Group field service operations. The manager must leverage S&K's core competencies—precision machining, reverse engineering, and turret expertise—to ensure production quality, drive growth, manage talent, and ensure safety.

The Plant Manager will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO).

Job Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Assist COO in developing and executing a long-term strategic plan for the S&K facility, aligning manufacturing, engineering, and service capabilities with the overall Operio Group business goals.
  • Lead a highly experienced team of managers, developing succession plans for critical roles (e.g., Customer Service, Process Manager) and retaining key talent.
  • Head the effective integration and growth of the new Operio Group Service Department, ensuring technicians are properly trained, utilized, and deployed to support all relevant Group brands, driving the team to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost goals.

Operations, Quality, & Manufacturing

  • Direct all manufacturing operations, including CNC, Manual Machining, Rebuilds and Turret production, to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Drive Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement efforts at the plant to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost targets.
  • Oversee the Process Manager to optimize manufacturing workflows, Bill of Materials (BOMs), routings, and inventory levels for replacement parts and new equipment (Sentry Press).
  • Ensure the Rebuild Department and the new Field Service team deliver high-quality machine and turret repairs.
  • Maintain the highest quality standards, leveraging the Engineering and Inspection departments for CMM technology and adherence to specifications.

Technical & Engineering

  • Oversee the technical integrity of all drawings, new product development, and the critical reverse engineering function for non-OEM parts.
  • Protect and leverage S&K's unique expertise in turret design and manufacturing.

Commercial, Service, & Logistics

  • Oversee the Customer Service function, ensuring prompt internal sales support and high customer satisfaction.
  • Lead the entire logistics chain, from the Warehousing, Picking, and Shipping functions to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective delivery of all orders to customers globally.
  • Coordinate with the Rebuild Supervisor to support and expand field service activities and customer training across the USA.

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing/operations management, with at least 5 years in a manufacturing, operations, or General manager leadership role (Manufacturing Department leader, manufacturing functional leader, Plant Manager, GM, or Director of Operations).
  • Deep knowledge of precision machining and high-tolerance manufacturing processes, preferably within the industrial equipment or pharmaceutical/nutraceutical sectors.
  • Proven ability to manage a P&L, set operational budgets, and drive continuous improvement (CI) initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of logistics, inventory control (MRP/ERP), production scheduling, and supply chain management.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience in change management, succession planning, and mentoring a multi-generational workforce.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the solid dose manufacturing industry (tablet press or capsule filler equipment).
  • Familiarity with the manufacturing or remanufacturing of rotary tablet press components.
  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing) or equivalent technical background.
  • Experience overseeing or implementing a Field Service and Technical Support organization.

Benefits:

  • Develop Your Skills and Grow - We have ever-growing internal training courses and encourage you to take courses externally. We have supported or currently support our team members financially with language courses, driving lessons, degrees/masters, qualifications, and more.
  • Join a Team That Really Cares - Everyone is friendly, collaborative and driven. We are a family business and we care about each other so because of this, you will always be pushed to become the best you can be.
  • Participate in Company Functions
  • Annual Pay Reviews
  • Real Work-Life Balance - 30 days vacation, incl holidays, per year. That's right, 30.
  • And More!
