Location: Sarasota, FL
An established and growing food manufacturing company is seeking a Quality Food and Safety Manager to lead quality assurance and food safety programs at one of its production facilities. This position plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and government regulations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in food and or beverage quality systems, leadership experience, and a hands-on approach to managing daily operations in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead, develop, and oversee all site-level quality assurance and food safety initiatives.
• Ensure facility compliance with regulatory standards including HACCP, and SQF and or BRC. Must Have PQCI certification.
• Manage internal and external audits and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee QA team including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
• Investigate and resolve customer complaints, non-conformances, and product deviations.
• Review and maintain records related to quality programs, sanitation, and traceability.
• Collaborate with production, R&D, and supply chain teams to ensure quality goals are met.
• Drive continuous improvement in quality systems, documentation, and product consistency.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7 - 10 years of progressive experience in quality assurance within a food manufacturing environment.
• Former leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong working knowledge of HACCP, SQF or BRC, Must Have - PCQI, GMP, food safety regulations, and GFSI certification schemes.
• Experience with auditing, CAPA, and root cause analysis.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• SQF Practitioner, BRC, Must have PCQI, and HACCP certification strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and ERP systems.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
