Position Title: Radiation Therapist
Department: Radiation Oncology
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Location: Lumberton, NC
Pay: $30 $50/hr

Major responsibility includes accurate administration of ionizing radiation to a prescribed area according to the prescribed dose. Educates and informs patients and their families in aspects of their radiation therapy treatments and refers them to Oncology nurse or Radiation Oncologist when necessary. Schedules and maintains daily therapy treatment appointments. Documents daily dose delivered and accurately calculates accumulated dose and elapsed treatment days.

Minimum Required:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Radiation Therapy

• Board Certified or Registry eligible by the ARRT in Radiation Therapy

• BLS Certification

Preferred:

• ARRT Registered

• 1 year of experience

• Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and clinical oncology

• Understand radiation physics, radiation safety, and basic dosimetry theories

• Safe and proper operation of linear accelerators and simulator equipment

• Follow complex written and verbal instructions in setting up patients for radiation therapy

• Ability to work with little supervision and maintain daily appointment schedule efficiently

• Communicate effectively with patients from various socio-economic backgrounds, physicians, nurses, and other staff

• Knowledge of growth and development; provide care based on patients' developmental needs

• Awareness of Corporate Compliance policies and responsibility to report fraud/abuse

• Reports To: Coordinator, Radiation Oncology

• Demographic: Patient information (name, address, SSN, etc.)

• Organizational: Medical records, X-ray films, diagnosis, and discharge summary

• Knowledge-based: Productivity, policy and procedure, clinical resource management, and regulatory guidelines (JCAHO, OSHA, Infection Control)
