Job Description

I have a global construction company seeking an experienced and detail-driven Survey Party Chief to support the successful delivery of large-scale Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) construction projects. This role focuses on precision setting out, QA verification, and technical coordination with subcontractors and design models. You will play a vital role in bridging site execution with design intent, ensuring quality and accuracy at every stage of the build.

Key Responsibilities:

Setting Out & Surveying:

  • Establish and maintain control points and datums using modern total stations and GPS systems.
  • Conduct precise layout and dimensional verification for structural, civil, and architectural elements.

QA & Compliance :

  • Carry out detailed QA checks and verification of subcontractor work against design specifications.
  • Maintain accurate field records, measurements, and inspection reports.

Coordination & Support:

  • Provide technical input and on-site support to construction teams and subcontractors.
  • Assist in resolving field issues through clear communication and collaboration.

Digital Model & CAD Support:

  • Produce, interpret, and update site layout drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Support 3D model coordination using tools such as Revit and Navisworks, where applicable.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Field Engineer, Site Engineer, or Setting Out Engineer, ideally on ICI construction projects.
  • Proficient with total stations, GPS, and related surveying equipment.
  • Strong skills in AutoCAD and Civil 3D; working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in QA inspections, technical documentation, and subcontractor oversight.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
  • CSCS or equivalent site certification preferred.

Additional Info

  • The company is looking for someone to travel from site to site as needed. Projects may spread across the US and Canada.
