Vaco has partnered with a national mortgage lender experiencing a significant increase in business volume. We’re looking for two experienced Mortgage Underwriters to join their team.
Review and evaluate residential mortgage applications and documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and investor guidelines.
Render loan decisions in alignment with AUS findings, overlays, and internal policies.
Review and calculate income, assets, and liabilities to ensure accurate borrower qualification and risk assessment.
Manage underwriting decisions and communicate effectively with Loan Officers and Processors to resolve conditions.
Enter all conditions and HMDA data into Encompass LOS and maintain documentation accuracy.
Stay current on industry, investor, and agency updates to ensure compliance with all guidelines.
Maintain productivity and quality standards, averaging 2 new files and 4–5 condition reviews per day.
Assist in refining underwriting processes and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
3–5+ years of recent mortgage underwriting experience.
DE/FHA certification required.
Experience performing manual FHA underwrites.
Full-cycle underwriting experience (start to finish).
Strong communication and collaboration skills—must be comfortable working closely with sales teams.
Proficiency in Encompass LOS and Microsoft Office Suite.
High school diploma required; additional education a plus.
