Position Summary:
Further the mission of the SCWA and Camp Leopold programs through supervision, management, planning, and organization of camp activities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
● Coordinate operations with staff, volunteers, campers, medical, food service, and housekeeping in accordance with ACA standards
● Positively and productively communicate and respond to supervisors, staff, campers, and parents
● Assist Camp Director in the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of all camp staff and volunteers
● Support training activities and lead staff meetings as assigned
● Execute day-to-day responsibilities to create a safe, secure, and enjoyable environment; enforce all safety regulations for campers, staff, and volunteers
● Anticipate and minimize potential issues with staff, volunteers, campers, or the environment, and respond promptly and effectively to problems
● Support the Director in ensuring that staff lead meaningful, safe, and engaging activities, follow curriculum, and incorporate creativity and spontaneity
● Monitor and promote appropriate behavior management techniques in alignment with camp rules and expectations
● Oversee and ensure compliance with all emergency procedures to protect the safety of campers, staff, and volunteers
● Maintain inventory, organize, and oversee the storage of camp merchandise and equipment
● Attend SCWA special events as assigned
● Assist in the development of annual program budgets, business plans, and strategic plans
● Exercise sound fiscal management for all program operations
● Assist with ACA accreditation visit preparation and reporting
● Coordinate operations of the Camp Leopold PLUS+ program, working closely with teachers, administrators, and staff to ensure smooth logistics and program delivery
● Monitor the quality of the Camp Leopold PLUS+ program by conducting pre-trip calls with teachers, holding pre-trip meetings with staff, and reviewing post-trip feedback and surveys
● Perform all other duties as assigned

● Proficient computer skills and the ability to learn appropriate computer programs related to the position

● Ability to work a non-traditional schedule including some nights and weekends

● Currently certified or willing to become certified in First Aid/CPR before the summer (will be provided if needed)
● Successful participation and completion of staff training prior to beginning of camp
● Ability to observe camper behaviors, assess its appropriateness and apply appropriate management techniques, as well as enforce appropriate safety and emergency procedures to the situation
● Proven ability to deal effectively with people at all levels of responsibility; strong interpersonal skills; possess high degree of integrity
● Ability to take initiative, be flexible, use sound judgment, and work harmoniously with others
● Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities
● Proven skills in communication, organization, and human relations
● Willingness to work with diverse populations

Education and Experience:
● Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university or equivalent outdoor education work experience
● Must be 21 years old
Physical Requirements:
● Lead and participate in recreational activities which may include running, throwing, kicking & shooting
● Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental weather and program threats, as well as maintaining constant supervision of campers, staff, and volunteers
● Ability to lift and/or maneuver weights of up to 35lbs
● Physical ability to respond to emergency situations and follow procedures.
● Endurance including: prolonged standing, bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, climbing, and stretching
● Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities
● Requires daily exposure to the sun, heat, insect and animals
